Why should I pay?

Here are a few good reasons :-
  1. Your payment keeps this site alive -TNSTAAFL.
  2. Your payment shows that you are serious. A skipper sees that you have put your hand in your pocket, so he knows that you really do want to go sailing and you're not just day dreaming (this was pointed out to me by an experienced crew).
  3. We will use some of the money that you pay us to market the site. That means more skippers with more crew places for you, and more crew -and so more reasons to visit for them.
  4. Skippers don't currently pay because we believe that the more skippers (and so more sailing) that we have the better.
    We may eventually charge them, but I imagine that they will always pay less than crew.

Is my payment safe?

  1. We use PayPal one of the biggest payment companies on the internet, with over 20,000,000 customers. They are owned by eBay, the biggest auctioneers on the web. You can read more on their website.
  2. Paying over the internet is safer than using the post. When you go to pay on the PayPal site you should see the addresses start with https:// and the padlock on your browser is closed. This means that all the data passing between you and PayPal is encrypted, scrambled so that it can't be read by anyone else.
  3. We at SailingNow never see your credit card details, so we can't abuse them, have them stolen from us, or buy that Holman yawl that I have had my eye on with them.

How does the trial period work?

  1. Taking up the free trial allows you to place an advert and get full details of trips for the duration of the trial. Outside the trial period you are billed immediately for this.
  2. We take your details, so that other users can contact you.
    PayPal takes your payment details when you subscribe to the site, so that your subscription is not interrupted at the end of your trial period.
  3. You are not billed until the end of your trial period.
  4. If you cancel before the end of your free trial you are never billed.
    (You can cancel via our Accounts page or directly with PayPal)
  5. At the end of the trial period you are billed for your subscription.
